Newly released surveillance footage reveals suspects involved in two separate incidents at the Mikveh Israel Congregation Synagogue in Philadelphia's Old City. The sequence of events began early Tuesday morning and has prompted an investigation by local authorities.
The initial incident occurred around 2 a.m. when a man was caught on video setting a fire in a dumpster situated outside the synagogue on North 4th Street. Police quickly began an arson investigation following this act of vandalism.
Several hours later, at approximately 6:30 a.m., two men were captured on surveillance attempting to break into the synagogue. Although they failed to gain entry, the suspects caused damage to the building's fence and a door during their attempted breach.
At this point, investigators have not determined if these two events are connected. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to these incidents to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
