Stellantis Recalls Over 1.2 Million Vehicles Due to Rearview Camera Software Glitch
ICARO Media Group
In a recent announcement, Stellantis, formerly known as Fiat Chrysler, revealed a massive recall affecting a total of 1.2 million vehicles in the United States and Canada. The recall is aimed at addressing a software glitch that can disable the rearview cameras in several models.
The affected vehicles include popular models such as the 2022 and 2023 Jeep Compass, Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, and Grand Wagoneer SUVs. Additionally, the recall covers 2022 and 2023 Ram ProMaster vans, Ram 3500 chassis cabs, and Ram 1500 and 2500 pickups. Owners of 2021 through 2023 Chrysler Pacifica minivans, Jeep Grand Cherokee L SUVs, and 2021 and 2022 Dodge Durango SUVs are also included in the recall.
According to the company's investigation, a software issue in the radio system can inadvertently shut down the rearview cameras, posing a safety risk for drivers. Stellantis has emphasized that there have been no reports of injuries or accidents related to the glitch. However, as a precautionary measure, the automaker is urging all affected vehicle owners to follow the recall instructions to ensure the issue is resolved promptly.
The remedy for the software glitch involves an online software update, some of which have already been deployed to certain vehicles. Owners will receive a request to accept the update on their media screens, and they will also be receiving recall notices via mail.
Stellantis is actively working to address the situation and is committed to the safety and satisfaction of its customers. Owners are advised to contact their authorized Stellantis dealerships or visit the company's official website for further information on the recall and to schedule the necessary repairs.
In the meantime, Stellantis continues to extend its gratitude to customers for their cooperation and urges them to promptly respond to recall notices to ensure the continued safe operation of their vehicles.
