### Julian 'JuJu' Lewis Commits to Colorado, Easing Deion Sanders NFL Rumors
In a significant boost for the Colorado Buffaloes football program, 5-star quarterback Julian 'JuJu' Lewis has committed to Colorado, providing a clear successor to Shedeur Sanders. Lewis, the No. 2 recruit in the 2025 class, had previously committed to USC but chose to switch his commitment after finding the fit in Los Angeles and with Lincoln Riley was not ideal.
Lewis, from Carrollton, Georgia, has been one of the most sought-after prospects, with colleges across the country vying for his talent. His decision to join Coach Deion Sanders, also known as 'Coach Prime,' came after multiple recruiting trips, including several visits to Boulder, Colorado. Recently, he also visited the Georgia Bulldogs during their game against Tennessee but ultimately decided that playing under Deion Sanders was the best move for his future.
The commitment is monumental for the Colorado program, which was struggling deeply just three years ago. Lewis' intention to compete for a starting position right away is influenced by Coach Prime's philosophy. “Coach Prime has always said that the best man is going to play and that’s really what I wanted—to compete, start as a freshman,” Lewis emphasized on the Pat McAfee show. “I wouldn’t have much fun sitting on the bench, so I wanted to come to a place that gives me a chance to play. He’s gonna let me compete for that, so that was big for me.”
Lewis will be graduating in December and plans to enroll at Colorado immediately, which will give him a head start in his quest to become the starting quarterback for the team. His early enrollment could provide a crucial advantage in his development under Sanders’ guidance.
This high-profile commitment has dampened ongoing rumors about Deion Sanders’ potential departure to the NFL. There has been speculation that Sanders might leave Colorado after his son, Shedeur Sanders, concluded his college career. However, Deion Sanders has consistently stated his long-term commitment to Colorado. In a recent interview, he noted, "I'm happy where I am, man. I've got a kickstand down. You know what a kickstand is? ... That means I'm resting. I'm good, I'm happy, I'm excited. I'm enthusiastic about where I am. I love it here, truly do."
Shedeur Sanders echoed his father’s sentiments, explaining, “If he's at a program, he's gonna change it around. Regardless of anything, he's always gonna leave his mark. It will never get forgotten about what he's done for any program that he's at.”
Having taken over the Colorado job in 2022, Deion Sanders turned around a team that had gone 1-11, leading them to a potential spot in the Big 12 title game and an impressive 8-2 record this season. The successful transformation has not gone unnoticed, particularly his effective use of the transfer portal.
For now, Colorado fans can enjoy a sigh of relief. While NFL rumors about Sanders may persist, Julian Lewis' commitment hints that Coach Prime plans on staying put, marking a substantial victory for the football program and the highly-talented quarterback they have secured.
