Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese was called for a Flagrant 1 foul after making contact with Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark's head during Sunday's game. The incident occurred in the third quarter when the Fever held a slim 63-62 lead with under three minutes remaining.

Reese, coming from behind as teammate Isabelle Harrison also went for the ball, appeared to attempt a block but ended up striking Clark's head instead. Initially called a personal foul, the officials upgraded it to a Flagrant 1 after review.

After the game, Reese expressed her belief that it was a basketball play and emphasized her intention to go for the ball. She acknowledged the impact of the referees on the game and expected the clip of the incident to be widely shared.

The contact was determined not to be excessive enough to warrant a Flagrant 2, which would have resulted in Reese's ejection from the game. Clark, during the postgame press conference, stated that she did not think Reese intentionally hit her.

Due to the foul, Reese had to sit out for the rest of the third quarter as it was her fourth personal foul. However, she returned to the court in the fourth quarter under the direction of Sky head coach Teresa Weatherspoon. Reese eventually collected her fifth foul in the final frame and briefly returned to the bench before reentering the game with 5:30 remaining.

Despite the closely contested matchup, the Indiana Fever defended their home court and emerged with a 91-83 victory. Clark led the way for the Fever, contributing 23 points on 7-of-11 shooting from the field. She also came close to a triple-double, adding eight rebounds and nine assists. Aliyah Boston had a solid performance as well, scoring 19 points and grabbing 14 rebounds.

On the Sky's end, Marina Mabrey led the team with 22 points, while Reese contributed 11 points and 13 rebounds, marking her sixth consecutive double-double.

This loss brings the Sky's record to 4-9 for the season, with the Fever improving to 5-10. The two teams will have another opportunity to face off, as they will meet again on June 23, giving Chicago a chance for redemption against their new rival.
