Shooting at Potomac High School Leaves One Dead and Child Injured

One adult has been killed and a five-year-old child injured in a shooting at Potomac High School in Oxon Hill, Maryland. The incident occurred on Saturday, June 15, around 11:14 a.m. during a football game.

According to Prince George's County police, the shooting took place at the bleachers of the game. Officers arrived at the scene and found an adult male in the bleachers with gunshot wounds. The victim was rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.

In addition to the adult victim, a five-year-old child was also found with a gunshot wound. The child, whose injuries are non-life-threatening, was driven to the hospital by someone at the scene.

During an afternoon press conference, authorities revealed that the shooting was the result of a verbal altercation between two individuals who knew each other. The argument escalated, leading to the suspect opening fire and shooting the deceased victim and the five-year-old child.

Police are currently actively investigating the incident and are still searching for the suspect, who fled the scene immediately after the shooting. The motive for the altercation and the identity of the suspect have not been disclosed.

This tragic event has deeply impacted the Oxon Hill community, and the school is offering support and counseling to students, staff, and families affected by the shooting. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is urged to come forward and contact the authorities.
