### Russian Missiles and Drones Target Kyiv Amid Escalating Tensions
Early Friday morning, an onslaught of Russian ballistic missiles and drones targeted multiple regions in Ukraine, according to a statement from the Ukrainian Air Force on Telegram. Kyiv, the capital, bore the brunt of the attack, with falling debris and drone strikes causing fires in various buildings.
Tymur Tkachenko, Head of Kyiv City Military Administration, reported that drone strikes had severely impacted residential areas. He specifically noted significant damage to a high-rise building in the Solomyansky district. Fires also broke out in the districts of Holosiivskyi and Darnytskyi, as confirmed by Kyiv’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko.
A CNN producer in the Kyiv area confirmed hearing at least two explosions during the missile assault. In response, Ukrainian air defense units were deployed in the Obolon area to counter the strikes.
This Russian missile strike on Ukraine's capital comes just days after the Ukrainian security service executed a series of large-scale drone attacks deep within Russian territory, targeting airfields and compromising 41 Russian military aircraft. Additional tension surged on Tuesday when Ukraine hit the Kerch Bridge, linking Russia with Crimea, with a massive underwater explosive device.
The escalating conflict reveals the intense and ongoing nature of warfare between the two nations, causing extensive damage and posing constant threats to civilian lives in Ukraine.
