Former Donald Trump attorney and ex-mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani, expressed no regrets as he emerged from having his mug shot taken in Arizona on Monday. Facing criminal charges related to the fake 2020 electors case, Giuliani boldly stated, "I'm very, very proud of it," outside the state courthouse where he was processed.
Giuliani's comments came after an Arizona grand jury indicted him, alongside 16 other Trump allies, for attempting to change the outcome of Joe Biden's victory in the state's presidential election. The charges accuse Giuliani of pressuring Arizona legislators and the Maricopa County board of supervisors to alter the election results, as well as encouraging Republican electors in Arizona and other contested states to vote for Trump.
This is one of two unresolved criminal cases for Giuliani, stemming from Trump's loss to Biden. In Georgia, a grand jury previously charged him with leading efforts to manipulate state lawmakers into appointing pro-Trump electors to the electoral college, ignoring the will of voters.
Despite facing multiple allegations, Giuliani has pleaded not guilty in both cases. On Monday, he was required to appear in person to be formally booked on charges of conspiracy, fraud, and forgery outlined in the Arizona indictment. Additionally, Giuliani posted a $10,000 bond and had his mug shot and fingerprints taken.
Giuliani's legal troubles do not end there. Previously, he filed for bankruptcy protection in December 2023 after being ordered to pay $148 million in a defamation case brought against him by Atlanta election workers Ruby Freeman and Shay Moss. Giuliani had falsely accused them of orchestrating electoral fraud during the 2020 election.
These controversies led to further consequences for Giuliani, as the New York City radio station WABC suspended his show for spreading the false claim that Trump lost the 2020 election due to electoral fraudsters.
Undeterred by the ramifications of his actions, Giuliani continued to assert his beliefs about the 2020 election. In an interview with KPNX, he claimed that a "substantial amount of vote fraud" occurred and was covered up, despite election integrity experts deeming the race one of the most secure in American history. Giuliani referred to it as "one of the biggest conspiracies in American history."
Reflecting on these events, Giuliani expressed disbelief during his online streaming show, America's Mayor Live. He stated, "It's hard for me to believe that I actually had to report as a defendant in a criminal case, after all the cases I prosecuted successfully in my years in law enforcement and serving the government."
As the legal proceedings continue, Rudy Giuliani remains defiant, maintaining his pride in his actions, despite the mounting criminal charges against him.
