The National Uncommitted Movement, instrumental in mobilizing hundreds of thousands to vote uncommitted during the presidential primary, has declared that they will not endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for president. Following the national group's decision, Uncommitted Minnesota announced they will also not endorse the Democratic ticket, which includes Governor Tim Walz for vice president.
Samuel Doten, a spokesperson of the Uncommitted Movement in Minnesota, expressed that both Vice President Harris and Governor Walz have failed to meet the minimum expectations of the movement, particularly regarding an immediate and permanent ceasefire in the conflict and the implementation of an arms embargo. The National Uncommitted Movement requested a meeting with Harris to discuss these demands, but after receiving no satisfactory response by the set deadline, they opted not to endorse her candidacy.
While the national movement focused its criticism on Harris, Doten highlighted missed opportunities by Governor Walz to engage with Palestinian Americans on policy demands. A previously scheduled meeting with Palestinian Americans was abruptly canceled by the governor's office when it was revealed that the group sought to discuss policy matters in addition to sharing their personal traumas. Doten expressed disappointment that despite repeated requests from organizers, Governor Walz has not engaged in meaningful dialogue with the pro-Palestinian movement in Minnesota.
