In a recent development, it has been revealed that pro-Palestinian Democrats in Michigan were the only delegates who voted against endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris this week. However, these delegates have expressed their willingness to reconsider their stance if Harris addresses their concerns regarding the administration's Gaza policies.

One of the delegates who voted against endorsing Harris, Abbas Alawieh, disclosed that the national uncommitted movement has been trying to arrange a meeting with the vice president. The purpose of the meeting would be to discuss ways to regain the support of anti-war Democratic voters who are seeking a more humanitarian approach towards Gaza.

While Harris' public statements on the Israel-Hamas conflict align with President Biden's position, she is not tied to Biden's long-standing pro-Israel stance. This distinction has been a point of friction for the uncommitted delegates, who are persistently advocating for a more favorable Gaza strategy.

The determination of the uncommitted delegates has caused internal tensions within the Michigan Democratic Party. Alawieh revealed that while voicing his support for a more compassionate Gaza policy during the virtual vote on Tuesday, he was met with derogatory comments from another Democratic Party delegate, who told him to "shut up, a--hole."

It has also been noted that a coalition of pro-Palestinian advocacy groups, which had originally planned to protest the Democratic National Convention in Chicago over the Israel-Hamas conflict, has stated that their plans remain unchanged despite the nomination of a new presumptive candidate.

In the latest update, it was reported that Harris was unable to attend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to Congress on Wednesday due to a previous commitment in Indiana. However, she is scheduled to meet with him privately later this week.

Commenting on the situation, Alawieh emphasized that removing Biden from the ticket could potentially reenergize numerous Democratic voters who feel let down by the administration's approach to the Gaza conflict.

As the discussions continue and efforts to address the concerns of pro-Palestinian Democrats persist, it remains to be seen if Vice President Harris will make any adjustments to the administration's Gaza policies to garner their endorsement.
