### Vikings Prepare for 2025 Season with Key OTA Insights

EAGAN, Minn. — As the Minnesota Vikings steadily advance toward their 2025 season kickoff, their Organized Team Activities (OTAs) are becoming a vital part of their preparation. With the exhibition opener against the Texans and the season start against the Chicago Bears on the horizon, numerous aspects of the team are under close scrutiny.

One major focus is on the Vikings' secondary and defensive front, which have seen significant changes due to several departures and new additions. Additionally, the offensive line's progression is closely monitored, especially with two key players returning from serious injuries. Fans are also keenly watching how J.J. McCarthy, now fully recovered, integrates with the team, particularly with star wide receiver Justin Jefferson reinforcing their on-field chemistry.

Jefferson, notably present at the facility, emphasized the importance of building a strong connection with McCarthy. "I got to know him a lot last year, but of course him being my quarterback this year, being able to talk to him or just pick his brain a little bit more, see what he likes, what he doesn't like, how he throws the ball, all that is a big factor into a quarterback," Jefferson shared after Monday's session. It's clear that their growing rapport is a central piece of the team's offensive strategy.

Defensive tackle Harrison Phillips also shared his thoughts on the team's progress, particularly the contributions of Pro Bowl players Jonathan Allen and Javon Hargrave to the defensive line. Phillips highlighted the unified drive from the Vikings' organization, from ownership to coaching staff, which has fostered a hardworking and cohesive team environment. "The push that they're showing, and confidence in us, makes us work even harder in the offseason, and makes us want to make our coaches and our organization, and fans, proud as well. You'd hate to be the one loose chain on the link," Phillips remarked.

During the 11-on-11 practice sessions, the Vikings' offense focused on off-tackle runs, combination blocks, and advancing the offensive line to the second level. Alongside outlet passes to tight ends and running backs, dig routes proved effective, with receptions by Jefferson, Jalen "Speedy" Nailor, and others. Notably, quarterback Max Brosmer showcased his vision with successful passes to Myles Price and rookie Tai Felton.

On the defensive side, Super Bowl champion Isaiah Rodgers made an impact during his first week of OTAs by securing an interception during a half-field 7-on-7 drill. Despite a slight misfire by McCarthy on the following play, Rodgers' performance underscores the defensive potential this season. Other defensive players, including Jeff Okudah and Jay Ward, also demonstrated their skills with crucial pass breakups in red zone scenarios.

McCarthy worked with different offensive line configurations, with the starting group featuring newcomers and seasoned players alike. The lineup included Justin Skule, Donovan Jackson, Ryan Kelly, Blake Brandel, and Brian O'Neill, while Christian Darrisaw and Will Fries continued their recoveries from injuries. A secondary lineup had both Kelly and O'Neill trading places with Michael Jurgens and Walter Rouse, giving the coaching staff a chance to assess different combinations.

With the 2025 season fast approaching, these OTA practices are setting a solid foundation for the Minnesota Vikings, aiming for a promising start against their future opponents.
