In a recent development, a Massachusetts teenager who had been reported missing following an assault at her Cape Cod school has been found safe, according to a family spokesperson and Mashpee police. This update comes after charges were filed against another teenager involved in the assault.

The missing teenager, Aliyah Konton, 15, was last seen on Sunday in the Cape Drive area, as confirmed by the Mashpee Police Department. On Wednesday, officials announced that she had been found, without providing further details about her location or condition.

The incident in question occurred on May 25 at Mashpee High School, when their school resource officer was made aware of an assault involving two students. Disturbingly, a video of the assault was reportedly posted on the social media platform Snapchat.

The Mashpee police collaborated closely with the Mashpee Schools Superintendent's Office and the Cape and Islands District Attorney's Office for a thorough investigation into the matter. In a statement, Mashpee Police Chief Scott W. Carline revealed that seven counts of Assault and Battery, as defined under M.G.L. Chapter 265 Section 13A, have been filed against a thirteen-year-old female involved in the incident. These charges were filed in the Falmouth District Court Juvenile Division.

Although one suspect has been charged, authorities are still investigating the involvement of potential accomplices. The Mashpee Police Department Detective Bureau has urged anyone with information about the assault to come forward and contact them at 508-539-1480.

The safety and well-being of students is of paramount importance, and incidents like these demonstrate the need for continued vigilance against bullying and violence within schools. Authorities and school administrations must work together to ensure the safety of students and create an inclusive and secure learning environment.

As the investigation progresses, further updates may be provided by the police and relevant authorities.
