**Wisconsin Connection Highlighted in Kamala Harris’ Appearance on ‘SNL’**

Vice President Kamala Harris made an unexpected appearance on "Saturday Night Live," bringing along a notable Wisconsin connection. Harris, fresh from a visit in Milwaukee where she stayed overnight following a campaign rally and concert in West Allis, joined the "SNL" cold open with Maya Rudolph, who is known for her recurring portrayal of Harris on the show.

The skit referenced the rallies of Harris' political opponent, former President Donald Trump, which have recently taken place in Wisconsin. James Austin Johnson, who plays Trump on "SNL," mimicked the former president wearing an orange high-visibility vest, mirroring Trump's attire during his rally near Green Bay. This wardrobe choice was a deliberate nod to comments made by President Joe Biden, in which he seemingly referred to Trump supporters as "garbage."

During the skit, Johnson echoed Trump's controversial remarks about protecting women "whether the women like it or not," a statement that has drawn significant criticism from Harris and others. The sketch also humorously depicted Trump battling with a malfunctioning microphone, as he did during his rally at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee the previous Friday night.

To add to the comedic element, Harris appeared as a mirror image of Rudolph, giving her a pep talk: "I'm just here to remind you, you got this," she said. "Because you can do something your opponent cannot do. You can open doors." In response, Rudolph cleverly quipped, "I see what you did there. Like to a garbage truck, right?" This was a playful reference to Trump's notable struggle with the door of a MAGA-emblazoned garbage truck prior to his rally in the Green Bay area.

The cold open served not just as a political satire, but also highlighted the continuous political activities and cultural moments taking place in Wisconsin, illustrating that the state remains a significant backdrop in the national political scene.
