**Kamala Harris Chooses Howard University for Election Night Watch Party**

On election night, Vice President Kamala Harris is set to be at Howard University, her alma mater and a prominent historically black university in Washington, D.C. Harris, who graduated from Howard in 1986 with degrees in political science and economics, has consistently highlighted the significant role the institution has played in her personal and professional development.

Howard University's president, Ben Vinson, noted that this event marks the first time in modern history that the campus will host a presidential election watch party. Expressing pride, Vinson remarked on the university's honor in being chosen by the first woman of color to serve as vice president for such an important occasion. "We are incredibly proud that she is among our alumni and honored that she has chosen Howard as the place to potentially make history again," Vinson stated.

Known as "The Mecca," Howard University was established in 1867 and stands as one of the largest and most academically demanding historically black universities in the United States. The university is notable for producing the highest number of Black PhD recipients in the country and currently educates around 11,000 students. In her memoir, *The Truths We Hold*, Harris described Howard University as a transformative environment where students can come as they are and leave as who they aspire to be.

During her time at Howard, Harris pledged to Alpha Kappa Alpha, the oldest Black sorority in the US. This sorority, along with other black Greek organizations, creates a strong national network that has supported Harris's political endeavors, including her presidential bids in 2019 and 2020.

With Trump and Harris running neck and neck in key battleground states like Pennsylvania, the outcome remains uncertain. The nation watches closely, aware of Pennsylvania’s crucial role in the election. As polls present unpredictable outcomes, both Trump and Harris are fervently campaigning to secure votes.

In a historic night that could see potential milestones, Kamala Harris's decision to spend the evening at Howard University underscores her enduring connection to her roots and the institution that helped shape her path to the vice presidency.
