The fundraising surge came after President Biden exited the race and endorsed Harris, leading to a significant rally of support from within the Democratic Party.

According to the campaign, 66% of the funds were contributed by first-time donors, highlighting the grassroots enthusiasm and widespread backing for Harris' bid. The campaign also reported that over 170,000 new volunteers have joined since last week's announcement, further demonstrating the growing momentum behind Harris' campaign.

Michael Tyler, the campaign's communications director, expressed his delight at the overwhelming support received, stating, "Vice President Harris has been a candidate for less than a week, but she's already coalesced the entire Democratic Party around her campaign, and the organic, grassroots enthusiasm is producing results."

This financial achievement follows an earlier report by the campaign noting that it had raised more than $100 million in the immediate aftermath of President Biden's decision to suspend his campaign. Subsequently, Harris secured endorsements from numerous influential members of the Democratic Party, including former contenders for the White House. Additionally, she had the backing of a vast majority of the party's 4,000 pledged delegates, essentially making her the presumptive Democratic nominee.

Over the weekend, Harris attended her inaugural major fundraiser as the presumptive nominee in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. The event, attended by over 800 Democratic donors, exceeded expectations by raising $1.4 million, surpassing the initial goal of $400,000. Harris addressed the attendees, appealing to their support in what her campaign has termed a "weekend of action," marking 100 days until the election.

Looking ahead, the Harris campaign is poised to select her running mate in the coming days. Campaign manager, Susan Rice, indicated that they have begun a thorough selection process to find the most suitable candidate. Sources familiar with the matter revealed that the campaign is vetting around a dozen potential running mates, including Governors Andy Beshear of Kentucky, Gretchen Whitmer of Michigan, Roy Cooper of North Carolina, J.B. Pritzker of Illinois, Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, and Tim Walz of Minnesota, as well as Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona.

As the Democratic Party gears up for the official selection of its nominee in early August through a virtual roll-call vote, Kamala Harris continues to make strides in her campaign. With an impressive fundraising total and a groundswell of volunteer support, she is positioning herself as a formidable candidate for the presidency in the upcoming November election.
