### Kamala Harris Campaign Seeks Post-Election Donations to Cover Costs
Following the election loss to Donald Trump, Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party are continuing to seek financial support from donors. Despite raising an impressive $1 billion during the campaign, the efforts to gather additional funds persist.
Harris supporters have been receiving frequent appeals for contributions post-election. While these solicitations do not directly mention campaign debts, they focus on issues such as the upcoming Republican administration's cabinet picks and unresolved congressional races.
Democratic strategist Adrian Hemond from Michigan noted that the Harris campaign spent more than it raised. He himself has been approached for help with fundraising efforts.
The strategy involves leveraging Harris' extensive email list of small-dollar donors, with daily emails sent to those who typically contribute hundreds of dollars or less. Additionally, there are personalized calls targeting larger donors.
According to a source familiar with the Democratic National Committee's finances, the expected financial shortfall for Harris' campaign is considered modest. As of mid-October, the campaign had $119 million on hand. However, the sources of revenue and expenses are still being reconciled, including pending invoices and media reimbursements.
Patrick Stauffer, the campaign's chief financial officer, assured that there were no outstanding debts as of Election Day and none are expected in the upcoming Federal Election Commission report.
The urgency for funds underscores the significant cost of a losing campaign and highlights the challenges Democrats face in countering the incoming Trump administration and preparing for the 2026 midterms. Recent fundraising appeals have been intensified by Trump's selection of Florida Republican Matt Gaetz for attorney general.
In response to Gaetz's appointment, an email from "the Harris Fight Fund" warned supporters that he would use the Justice Department to protect Trump’s interests. The message emphasized the need for Democratic vigilance against potential actions from the new administration.
