The Wisconsin Department of Justice's Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is currently conducting an investigation into an active shooter situation that took place on Wednesday in the Village of Mount Horeb.

According to reports, a 911 call was received around 11:11 a.m. when a witness spotted a male student approaching Mount Horeb Middle School carrying a backpack and what appeared to be a long gun. Mount Horeb police officers swiftly responded to the location mentioned in the call, near the school's main entrance at 900 Garfield St.

Upon locating the student, the officers ordered him to drop the weapon, but he failed to comply.
