### Man Found Dead in Montana Forest: Authorities Suspect Homicide
Authorities have discovered the body of a 35-year-old man in a remote area of Montana, prompting an investigation into what appears to be a homicide. Dustin Kjersem, originally from Belgrade, Montana, was found dead in his camping tent northeast of Big Sky on October 10. Gallatin County Sheriff Dan Springer disclosed this information during a recent news conference.
Kjersem had gone on the camping trip with plans to meet a friend the following day. However, the friend discovered Kjersem's body on Saturday morning and alerted authorities, initially suspecting a bear attack. A state wildlife agent later examined the scene and found no evidence suggesting the involvement of a bear.
An autopsy revealed that Kjersem died from "multiple chop wounds" inflicted by an unidentified weapon. The injuries, according to the autopsy, included severe wounds to both his skull and body. The campsite where Kjersem was found was not part of any established campground, leaving the exact time of his death unclear.
No arrests have been made so far, and it remains uncertain whether the local community is at risk. "If you're out there in the woods, we need you to be paying attention; we need you to remain vigilant," emphasized Sheriff Springer. The investigation faces additional challenges due to the remote location, which lacks cell service and, therefore, does not provide any records of calls for investigators to follow.
Kjersem was a respected homebuilder in the Gallatin Valley area, which includes Bozeman. His sister, Jillian Price, described him as a talented tradesman and a loving father. "I ask our community to please help us find out who did this," she urged. "There is someone in our valley who is capable of truly heinous things."
The sheriff's office has requested anyone with trail or game cameras in the Moose Creek area, where Kjersem's body was found, to contact the authorities.
