### Suspect's Family Detained After Boulder Attack as Investigation Unfolds

US Homeland Security has apprehended the family of Mohamed Sabry Soliman, who is accused of launching an attack during a Sunday march in Boulder, Colorado. Soliman, 45, now faces multiple serious charges, including attempted murder, assault, and possession of an incendiary device, following an incident that left a dozen people injured.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem confirmed on Tuesday that Soliman's wife and five children have been taken into custody. She stated that authorities are investigating whether Soliman's family was aware of his plans or if they provided any support for the attack. Noem shared this information on X, additionally posting a video about the detentions.

Soliman allegedly yelled "Free Palestine" while throwing two petrol bombs into the crowd. Besides the charges already mentioned, he also faces a federal hate crime charge. The victims, whose ages range from 52 to 88, suffered injuries varied from minor to serious and were transported to local hospitals.

An affidavit reveals that Soliman confessed to planning the attack for a year. He immigrated to the US on a tourist visa in August 2022, which expired the following year. Following this, he filed an asylum claim in September 2022. Reports indicate that Soliman had been waiting for his daughter’s high school graduation, which took place last week, before committing the act.

One of Soliman's daughters, whose recent scholarship award was highlighted in a local newspaper, had written in her application about the profound impact of their move to the US. She expressed aspirations to study medicine, valuing family support greatly. She spent her early years living in Kuwait before relocating to the US two years ago.

Officials disclosed that Soliman attended his initial court appearance via video link from Boulder County Jail on Monday, where his session lasted less than five minutes. He confirmed basic procedural queries but remained largely silent. His next court appearance for the formal filing of charges and a bail hearing is scheduled for Thursday.
