In the aftermath of a tragic plane crash in Franklin, Tennessee, investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) are diligently working to collect the scattered debris of the aircraft. The incident, which occurred on May 15, claimed the lives of three individuals.
According to Aaron McCarter, spokesperson for the NTSB, the debris field spans a half-mile radius, requiring extensive efforts to gather all the wreckage pieces. The aircraft was en route from Louisiana to Kentucky when it went down in Williamson County. McCarter noted that the investigation will take into account various factors such as the qualifications and experience of the individuals aboard, as well as the prevailing weather conditions during the flight.
Eyewitnesses in the vicinity reported seeing the wings of the plane going backward and the aircraft appearing to be out of control as it descended from 10,000 feet to 7,500 feet. The plane, a Beech Vector 35 manufactured in 1966, had been discontinued in the 1980s. The pattern of the collected debris suggests an in-flight breakup of the aircraft.
The NTSB plans to transport the gathered debris to Springfield, where experts will attempt to piece together the sequence of events leading up to the crash. A preliminary report is expected to be released by the NTSB within ten days after their departure from the scene.
In a setback to the investigation, it was revealed that the aircraft did not possess a black box. However, investigators managed to recover two memory cards from the crash site, which will undergo analysis in the hopes of retrieving any salvaged data.
As of now, approximately 75% of the plane's structure has been located and collected. Aggressive search efforts will persist in order to find any remaining pieces of the aircraft.
With each collected piece of debris, the NTSB moves closer to unraveling the circumstances surrounding this devastating plane crash. The thorough investigation seeks to shed light on the causes that led to the loss of three lives on that fateful day in Williamson County.
