In an intriguing turn of events, federal prosecutors have revealed that a gun once registered to the infamous former Los Angeles police officer, Christopher Dorner, has been discovered at an Airbnb rental in Los Angeles. This revelation comes as two individuals, hailing from South American nations, are being accused of committing an armed robbery at the Beverly Wilshire hotel last week.
Christopher Dorner, infamous for his killing spree that resulted in the deaths of four individuals, including two law enforcement officers, had been linked to this weapon prior to his death in 2013. The weapon, now in question, was reportedly the only firearm discovered in connection with the recent arrests made at the Los Angeles Airbnb. However, Assistant U.S. Attorney Jena MacCabe refrained from confirming whether it was used in the alleged robbery, stating that investigations are still ongoing.
According to an affidavit, the suspects are believed to have targeted a victim at the luxurious Beverly Hills hotel, holding him at gunpoint and stealing his Patek Philippe watch, valued at an astounding $1 million. The incident occurred in front of his wife and twin 5-year-old daughters, adding further distress to the already traumatic event. The suspects then reportedly fled the scene in a vehicle bearing stolen license plates, as detailed in the affidavit.
Jamer Mauricio Sepulveda Salazar, a 21-year-old Colombian national, faces two felony charges related to the armed robbery, while Jesus Eduardo Padron Rojas, a 19-year-old Venezuelan national, has been charged with felony conspiracy to commit robbery. The complaint alleges that Sepulveda had been conducting surveillance for two weeks with the intention of stealing a Patek Philippe watch, and both men admitted their involvement in stealing a $30,000 Rolex in Beverly Hills just two days prior to the $1-million watch theft.
Investigators made a significant discovery during their search at the suspects' Airbnb rental on Browning Boulevard, Los Angeles, where they found a handgun concealed within Padron's pillowcase. This weapon, originally registered to Dorner, has sparked intrigue among investigators as they attempt to unravel its connection to this recent violent crime spree.
Christopher Dorner, during his nine-day rampage in 2013, claimed the lives of four individuals, including two police officers, and injured three others. His deadly spree came to an end when he died in a cabin at Big Bear, following a shootout with authorities that culminated in the cabin being engulfed in flames. MacCabe expressed that investigators are currently working diligently to uncover how this weapon, with its ties to Dorner, came into the possession of these suspects and played a role in this violent crime series.
