Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker has engaged in two virtual meetings with Vice President Kamala Harris' vetting team this week, signaling a significant development in the search for a running mate. With the campaign's accelerated timeline, Harris is expected to announce her selection in the coming days.

According to a source familiar with the matter, Governor Pritzker met with the vetting team on Monday and Wednesday, with Monday's meeting being the longest. Leading the vetting process are former Attorney General Eric Holder and former Biden White House General Counsel Dana Remus, who has been in contact with Pritzker during these discussions.

The Governor began submitting vetting materials last week and has since provided additional follow-up materials as requested. Pritzker's ongoing involvement in the selection process indicates his potential consideration as a running mate for Vice President Harris.

In addition to his meetings, it has been confirmed that virtual discussions have taken place between the vetting team and other potential candidates, including Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro and Arizona Senator Mark Kelly. NBC News also reported meetings with Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, and Minnesota Governor Tim Walz.

The initial contact between Pritzker and Harris' presidential campaign occurred last week when Pritzker's interest in running for the vice presidency was gauged. Since then, Pritzker has remained tight-lipped about the private conversations, reiterating to reporters that he won't discuss them publicly. However, he has actively voiced his support for Harris on national television, boosting her campaign and criticizing former President Donald Trump.

During an interview on MSNBC's "The Beat with Ari Melber" on Thursday, Pritzker refrained from revealing specific details about the conversations but acknowledged, "Naturally, people have called to talk to me about the possibility of being the vice presidential candidate." He expressed gratitude for the interest, emphasizing his dedication to serving as the governor of Illinois and the achievements he has made for the state.

Joyously endorsing Harris for President, Pritzker released a video via his political account, commending her leadership qualities and stating, "I'm pumped to endorse my friend Kamala Harris for President of the United States because she has the courage, skills, character, and vision to lead this country forward. And she's gonna beat Donald Trump like a drum."

Further bolstering Pritzker's position, 90 members of Illinois unions, including representatives from LIUNA and the Chicago Journeymen Plumbers Local 130, have signed a letter expressing their support for Pritzker as a vice presidential candidate. The letter recognizes him as a steadfast ally to union families and a tireless leader who has delivered significant accomplishments for workers' rights.

The selection process for Kamala Harris' running mate is entering its final stages, and Governor J.B. Pritzker's involvement in multiple meetings with her vetting team has heightened speculation around his potential candidacy. As the campaign inches closer to the eagerly anticipated announcement, political observers eagerly await Harris' final decision.
