In a shocking turn of events, professional golfer Scottie Scheffler was handcuffed and charged with felony assault of a police officer at Valhalla Golf Club on Friday morning. The incident occurred near the entrance of the club, where a fatal crash had taken place.

According to Scheffler's attorney, Brian Romines, the golfer had allegedly refused to stop near the scene of the crash. One police officer directed Scheffler to go around and enter the facility, but the arresting officer was unaware of this instruction and stopped Scheffler instead.

Louisville Metro Police accused Scheffler of refusing to comply with orders from Detective Bryan Gillis, accelerating forward, and dragging Gillis to the ground. However, witnesses at the scene have provided conflicting accounts, stating that Gillis actually tried to grab onto Scheffler's vehicle as he slowly moved forward.

Adding to the controversy, it has been revealed that there is no body camera footage of the initial incident. Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg confirmed that the officer did not have a body camera turned on at the time. The lack of video evidence has raised concerns and questions surrounding the events leading up to Scheffler's arrest.

The Louisville Metro Police Department has announced that they are currently reviewing the incident. Meanwhile, Scheffler, who maintains his innocence, has labeled the situation as a "chaotic situation and a big misunderstanding." He is scheduled to appear in Jefferson District Court on May 21.

According to an arrest report, police claim Scheffler was driving eastbound to gain access to the golf course when he entered a westbound lane to avoid backed-up traffic. Detective Bryan Gillis, described as being in full LMPD uniform and wearing a high-visibility yellow reflective rain jacket, attempted to give instructions to Scheffler.

Romines, Scheffler's attorney, has repeatedly asserted that his client did nothing wrong and was simply trying to gain entry into the facility when he was arrested. The conflicting accounts and the absence of video evidence have created a complex and contentious situation for all parties involved.

As the investigation continues, all eyes will be on the upcoming court hearing as both sides present their respective cases and evidence to shed light on the true events that unfolded at Valhalla Golf Club.
