In a show of solidarity, former Full House actress Candace Cameron Bure has expressed her support for Drake Bell, a Nickelodeon actor who recently revealed his experience of being sexually abused as a minor by convicted sex offender and voice coach Brian Peck. Bure, known for playing teenager D.J. Tanner in the beloved sitcom, spoke out on the docuseries Quiet on Set, where Bell shared his story.

Bure stated that she watched the first few episodes of the series and was deeply affected by Bell's account, describing it as heartbreaking, tragic, and disgusting. The actress commended Bell for his bravery in opening up about the abuse, while acknowledging that her heart breaks for him.

Reflecting on the industry and her own experience, Bure expressed empathy for Bell's parents, highlighting the challenges of protecting children in entertainment. She added that she and her fellow cast members on Full House did not have similar experiences, but recognized that many others have. Bure emphasized the importance of raising awareness and working to prevent future incidents from occurring.

During the docuseries, Bell discussed the manipulation he experienced at the hands of Peck, whom he first encountered while working on The Amanda Show. Peck, who is now registered as a sex offender, convinced Bell to distance himself from his father-manager and eventually convinced Bell's mother to allow him to stay at Peck's home between auditions. It was during this time that the abuse took place. Peck was later convicted of child molestation in 2004, but Bell's identity as the victim was not revealed until two decades later.

Nickelodeon responded to Bell's story by stating their dismay and sadness upon learning about the trauma he endured and expressing support for his courage in coming forward. The entertainment company acknowledged the strength it takes to share such experiences.

Bell's revelation has shed light on the dark side of the industry and serves as a reminder of the importance of safeguarding young talents from abuse. With the support of celebrities like Candace Cameron Bure, it is hoped that increased awareness will lead to stronger protection for future generations.
