In a shocking development, the FBI has launched an investigation into the devastating collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore that occurred last month. Two sources familiar with the matter have revealed that the probe aims to ascertain whether any criminal wrongdoing took place during the incident.

According to an insider, the focus of the investigation is to determine whether the ship's crew had knowledge of potential issues with the vessel before leaving port. On Monday morning, FBI agents were reportedly seen boarding the cargo ship named Dali, as confirmed by the Justice Department.

"The FBI is present aboard the cargo ship Dali conducting court authorized law enforcement activity," stated the FBI Baltimore in a brief statement, with no further details provided. Meanwhile, a spokesperson from the Department of Justice announced, "Federal agents today are conducting a court-approved search of the Dali."

The collision occurred in the early hours of March 26 when the container ship Dali struck one of the piers on the Key Bridge. Tragically, the bridge collapsed, leading to the untimely deaths of six construction workers who were engaged in filling potholes on the span. Fortunately, two workers managed to survive the incident.

Although none of the crew members aboard the cargo ship were injured in the collision, several containers fell into the nearby channel. The incident prompted President Joe Biden to visit the collapse site on April 5, where he pledged complete support for Baltimore's rebuilding efforts. President Biden expressed his intention "that the federal government will pay for the entire cost of reconstruction of that bridge."

As the investigation unfolds, all eyes will be on the FBI's findings, which will shed light on whether criminal actions contributed to this tragic event. The focus on the crew's prior knowledge raises important questions regarding accountability and safety protocols within the shipping industry. Baltimore and the families of the deceased workers anxiously await justice and answers in the wake of this devastating bridge collapse.
