The FBI has joined authorities in Mexico City in the search for Elizabeth "Ely" Gonzalez, a 14-year-old girl from Utah who disappeared while visiting relatives last month. Gonzalez was last seen in the San Juan Tlihuaca neighborhood on June 30, according to Mexico City authorities.

Despite her current whereabouts being unknown, investigators believe that Gonzalez is still in Mexico. Video footage reviewed by authorities reportedly shows an adult manipulating Gonzalez to enter a taxi, and she has not been seen since. An Amber Alert was activated for her on July 1.

Gonzalez was last seen wearing dark blue jeans, a black hoodie, and black and white Vans. She is described as 5-foot-1, weighing 140 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. Her mother, Alma Soreque, revealed that she had spoken to Gonzalez on the morning she went missing. Later that day, Soreque received a call from their family stating that Gonzalez had gone to a nearby store for a soda but never returned home.

The FBI's Salt Lake City field office is urging anyone with information on Gonzalez's whereabouts to contact them at 801-579-1400. Additionally, individuals can reach out to their local FBI office, the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate, or provide tips online at tips.fbi.gov.

Efforts are being intensified to locate the missing teenager, with both Mexican and U.S. authorities working together in the investigation. As the search continues, officials hope that any leads or information shared by the public will help bring Gonzalez home safely.
