**Las Vegas Man Fatally Shot by Police During Home Invasion Response**

A Las Vegas man seeking help during a home invasion was fatally shot by a responding officer, according to local authorities and 911 call records. The incident occurred early on November 12, when Brandon Durham, 43, contacted emergency services while hiding with his 15-year-old daughter from an intruder in their home, explained Assistant Sheriff Dori Koren.

In the 911 call recordings released by KVVU-TV, Durham is heard urgently requesting immediate police assistance. Officer Alexander Bookman, aged 26, was among the first to arrive at the scene. According to Koren, Bookman forced entry by kicking in the front door and discovered Durham entangled in a struggle over a knife with the intruder in a hallway.

Body camera footage, briefly captured and released by the police, shows the tense moments where Officer Bookman commanded the individuals to drop the knife. Upon their failure to comply, he discharged his firearm, initially firing one round. Both Durham and the intruder collapsed to the floor, after which Bookman approached and fired five additional rounds, the footage revealed.

Brandon Durham succumbed to his injuries within his residence. Authorities confirmed that Durham and the intruder had known each other. The intruder has since been detained and charged with home invasion and assault.

Durham's family is calling for Officer Bookman to be terminated and prosecuted, asserting through their attorney, Lee Merritt, that "Mr. Durham was not threatening anyone" and that the use of force was unjustified. Bookman is currently on paid leave as the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department conducts an investigation into the incident.
