### Yemen Endures Airstrikes Amid Rising Tensions
Airstrikes were executed on several regions of Yemen, notably its capital, Sanaa, and Hodeidah airport, as reported by Al Masirah TV. The channel, operated by the Houthi movement, claimed that both US and British forces were behind these attacks, although a British government source denied any British involvement.
Residents and Al Masirah TV provided eyewitness accounts of airstrikes extending south to Dhamar city. This uptick in military activity follows a series of Houthi assaults on international shipping routes since last November. The Houthis, who are Iran-aligned, initiated these attacks in solidarity with Palestinians amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.
These Houthi actions have provoked retaliatory strikes from US and British forces. Consequently, global trade has faced significant disruption, as shipowners are now diverting their vessels away from the Red Sea and the Suez Canal, preferring the longer maritime route around the southern tip of Africa. The rerouting aims to avoid areas now considered high-risk due to the escalating conflict.
