### Oak Park Detective Allan Reddins Killed in Line of Duty
In a tragic incident outside Chicago, Detective Allan Reddins of the Oak Park Police Department was fatally shot after responding to an emergency call about an armed suspect leaving a local bank. This marks the first line-of-duty death for the department since 1938.
The Oak Park Police Department received a report of an armed person leaving a bank and dispatched officers to the scene. When Reddins arrived, he was shot in the left side. Despite rapid response from the Oak Park Fire Department, which arrived at 9:36 a.m. following reports of gunfire, Reddins succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 10:10 a.m.
The suspect, who was also shot in the leg during the confrontation, was apprehended and transported to Loyola University Medical Center. He remains in stable condition. Authorities have not disclosed who shot the suspect.
Detective Reddins, aged 40, was a resident of Chicago and had been serving with the Oak Park Police Department since May 2019. In a heartfelt news release, the department expressed deep condolences to Reddins' family, friends, and colleagues, emphasizing the profound loss felt by the law enforcement community due to this senseless violence.
