**Don Davis Secures Victory in Pivotal North Carolina House District**

In a closely watched contest, Democratic Representative Don Davis has emerged victorious over Republican challenger Laurie Buckhout in a key North Carolina House district. According to The Associated Press, Davis successfully defended his seat in this high-stakes race.

Republicans had identified Davis' eastern North Carolina constituency as a prime target this election cycle, particularly after redistricting made the district more conservative. While President Joe Biden won the district by approximately seven percentage points in 2020, recent adjustments reduced his margin to a narrow 1.7 points.

Throughout the campaign, Buckhout stressed immigration issues, attempting to associate Davis with the Biden administration’s border policies. Davis, on the other hand, highlighted his legislative record and sought to connect Buckhout with Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, the Republicans' scandal-prone gubernatorial candidate.
