At least two people have been killed and 35 others wounded in a devastating attack on a supermarket in the northern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv. Local officials have reported that Russian forces targeted the supermarket with two glide bombs, causing widespread destruction and panic among the residents.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his shock at the incident, revealing that there could have been over 200 people inside the supermarket when it was attacked. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov described the situation as "pure terrorism" and raised concerns about a significant number of missing individuals.

President Zelensky condemned the strike as another act of "Russian madness," blaming Russian President Vladimir Putin for causing death and terror among innocent people. The attack highlights the growing anxiety among Ukrainians about the lack of suitable air defenses in the country.

President Zelensky reiterated the urgent need for Ukraine to be able to defend itself, calling on Western allies to provide air defense systems. The attack is yet another indication of Russia's increasing confidence, as its forces seize the opportunity to further their advantage while Ukraine awaits the arrival of additional Western weapons on the frontlines.

The incident is part of a broader Russian offensive along the north-eastern border. Furthermore, Finland and the Baltic states responded to a Russian proposal to redraw sea borders that have been in place for the past 40 years, heightening regional tensions.

Adding to these concerning developments, the Pentagon recently voiced concerns about a Russian satellite launch, suggesting that it may have the capacity to attack other satellites. This further exacerbates worries about Russia's aggressive actions and its potential impact on international space operations.

The deadly strike on the supermarket in Kharkiv serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, emphasizing the urgent need for international support in ensuring Ukraine's defense capabilities and stabilizing the region.
