In an update on the Dallas Cowboys' offseason program, it has been reported that All-Pro wide receiver CeeDee Lamb is not expected to attend voluntary workouts as he awaits a long-term contract. This information comes from a source close to the situation, who spoke to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Lamb, who is entering the final year of his rookie deal, is set to earn a fully-guaranteed salary of $17.99 million from his fifth-year option. While the offseason program is voluntary, Lamb has traditionally been a regular attendee. However, this year, negotiations for a long-term extension have stalled, leading to his absence.

During Phase 1 of the program, players are limited to workouts, meetings, and rehabilitation sessions. The only mandatory part of the offseason program is the June minicamp. Any player who skips this would be subject to fines exceeding $100,000.

Despite his absence from the team's facility, Lamb has been consistently working out with quarterback Dak Prescott and other skill players at Prescott's backyard field or other local locations. This demonstrates his commitment to staying in shape and maintaining a strong connection with his teammates.

The Dallas Cowboys have expressed their desire to sign Lamb, who recently turned 25, to a long-term extension since last offseason. However, negotiations have not made significant progress thus far. Last season, Lamb made an impressive impact, setting team records for receptions (135) and yards (1,749). In addition, his 395 catches for 5,145 yards are the most in franchise history for a player in their first four NFL seasons, along with 18 100-yard games.

It is worth noting that Lamb is not the only star receiver looking for a long-term deal. Minnesota Vikings' Justin Jefferson is also in negotiations for a contract extension, and talks there have been progressing slowly as well.

As the voluntary offseason program begins, the Cowboys will have to adjust their preparations without Lamb's presence. However, the situation emphasizes the importance of reaching a favorable agreement for both parties as soon as possible to ensure continuity and stability within the team.
