**British National Captured by Russian Forces in Kursk Region**

A British individual, James Scott Rhys Anderson, has been captured by Russian forces while fighting for Ukraine, as per multiple media accounts. Anderson, identified in a video shared on the Telegram channel Troyka, is a 22-year-old former British army member who joined Ukraine's International Legion.

No.10 Downing Street addressed the matter on Monday, stating that the Foreign Office is providing support to Anderson's family during this ordeal. However, the specifics of the case were not confirmed. An unnamed military source, cited by Russian state news agency Tass, confirmed the capture of the British "mercenary" in the Kursk area.

British Foreign Secretary David Lammy also commented on the situation, indicating that he had been briefed and assured that efforts are ongoing to support the captured UK national.

The incident is part of the larger conflict dynamics in the region. In August, Kyiv's military undertook an operation capturing parts of Kursk, marking the first offensive into Russian territory since World War II. In response, North Korean soldiers have reportedly been deployed to help Russia counter the Ukrainian forces, a move that has drawn criticism from Ukraine's Western allies.
