An 83-year-old father, Patrick Bailey Sr., has been missing for a week after his flight home was canceled due to the CrowdStrike computer update outage, officials say. Bailey Sr., who was visiting his sister in Orlando, Florida, was set to return to Northern California last Sunday when his Delta flight was disrupted by the widespread tech outage that occurred on July 19.
Patrick Bailey Jr., Bailey Sr.'s worried son, expressed his family's distress, stating, "We really are at a loss to figure out how to find him." Following the flight cancellation, Bailey Sr. had checked into a hotel for the night, inadvertently leaving his cell phone behind. The next morning, he departed and purchased a bus ticket that took him through Louisiana, Texas, and New Mexico, according to information provided by his son.
In ongoing efforts to locate Bailey Sr., investigators are now working to obtain surveillance footage from a Wendy's restaurant in Louisiana, where his debit card was reportedly used. Authorities are examining the footage to determine if the person using the card was indeed Bailey Sr. His son mentioned, "Nobody got any notices about him getting home. Nobody had heard from him." The absence of his cell phone has made it difficult for the family to communicate or track his whereabouts.
Apart from this recent ordeal, Bailey Sr. had recently been hospitalized for a back injury, making his attempts to travel the vast distance back home especially challenging. Bailey Jr. hopes that his father did not attempt to make the journey with a rental car, as he believes his current condition might hinder such a long drive.
Bailey Jr. remains hopeful for a positive resolution, urging anyone who may have seen Bailey Sr. to contact the Orlando Police Department immediately. He emphasized the urgency, stating, "Hopefully, this is all going to end well and we're going to find him, but it is a reminder that time is fleeting."
The search for Bailey Sr. continues, with authorities and his family anxiously hoping for his safe return.
