In a recent update from the Ukrainian Marines, it has been revealed that Russian forces have suffered significant casualties and equipment losses in battles along the Dnipro River near Kherson. The Ukrainian Defense Forces have carried out successful operations on the eastern bank of the river, resulting in extensive setbacks for the Russian side.

According to a Facebook post by the Ukrainian Marines on November 17, Russian forces have lost nearly 3,500 soldiers, with over 1,200 fatalities recorded. In addition to the human toll, the Russian side has also lost 24 tanks, 48 armored vehicles, 89 artillery systems and mortars, 135 other vehicles, nine multiple launch rocket systems, and 14 boats.

These cross-river raids by the Ukrainian forces into the occupied part of Kherson Oblast, east of the Dnipro River, have been ongoing since February, with intensified attacks reported in August. The U.K. Defense Ministry had earlier confirmed that Ukrainian forces were maintaining a beachhead near the Antonivsky Bridge.

Recent reports from Russian military bloggers had indicated that Ukrainian troops had established footholds on the occupied bank. Footage from October 19 further confirmed the presence of Ukrainian soldiers in Krynky.

Confirming the Ukrainian operations, Volodymyr Saldo, the Russia-installed proxy in the occupied part of Kherson Oblast, admitted on his Telegram channel on November 15 that small groups of Ukrainian soldiers were dispersed from a railway bridge in the oblast to Krynky, a village located approximately 35 kilometers east of Kherson and two kilometers southeast of the Dnipro River.

President Volodymyr Zelensky also addressed the river battles, congratulating the soldiers involved in the operations. He shared photos showcasing some of the amphibious operations conducted by the Ukrainian military.

These recent developments along the Dnipro River have showcased the resilience and strength of the Ukrainian Defense Forces. The losses suffered by the Russian forces highlight the determination of Ukraine to protect its territory and maintain stability in the region.
