One person was tragically killed and five others were injured after a vehicle crashed into the emergency room of St. David's North Austin Medical Center on Tuesday evening, according to first responders. The deceased individual was inside the vehicle and was pronounced dead after being rescued from the wreckage.

Eyewitness, Diane Warmoth, a physician's assistant in urology at the hospital, recounted the horrifying incident. Warmoth had just stepped outside the emergency room when she heard the screeching of tires, signaling a car speeding towards the entrance. The vehicle crashed through the glass doors next to her, causing an explosive sound that she assumed came from a large fish tank located in the ER's entrance.

Warmoth rushed to help, witnessing the car's tires still spinning as she approached. Water from the damaged fish tank covered the area. She described the aftermath as surreal and immediately went back into the ER to assist the injured individuals.

The initial response to the chaotic scene was rapid, although the situation was dire. In total, five people who were already inside the emergency room at the time of the incident suffered injuries. Tragically, the driver of the vehicle did not survive the crash.

Michelle Cruz, who was present at the ER with her mother during the accident, shared her harrowing experience. She vividly remembered the sight of blood and shattered glass, along with the deafening roar of the car's engine, followed by the sound of people screaming. Cruz acknowledged the mental toll the incident had taken on her and emphasized the importance of focusing on her own mental health.

Acknowledging the impact this incident had on witnesses, Cruz expressed her gratitude that the tragedy had ended and everyone was safe, assuring herself that such an event would not occur again.
