Allegheny County police have announced the arrest of three individuals in connection with the disappearance and death of George Dayieb from Westmoreland County. The arrest comes after extensive investigations revealed that the homicide was motivated by a business debt of nearly $440,000.
The three men charged in the death of George Dayieb have been identified as Jeremy Fisher, 41, of Coraopolis, William Fortuna, 58, of Conway, and Braden Elliott, 20, of Chicora. They are facing charges of criminal homicide, criminal conspiracy, and abuse of a corpse.
The investigation began when Dayieb's significant other reported him missing and endangered to Murrysville police on Wednesday afternoon. His unoccupied pickup truck was later discovered by Kennedy Township police. Subsequently, detectives learned that Dayieb had left his home that morning to meet with Fisher, his business partner in an excavation company based in Robinson Township. It was revealed that Fisher owed Dayieb over $439,000 for equipment that had been purchased for him.
According to the criminal complaints, Fisher conspired with Fortuna and Elliott to orchestrate Dayieb's murder. Fortuna, described as an associate and employee of Fisher's, provided Fisher with a revolver. Elliott, Fisher's nephew, allegedly agreed to help after being promised a diesel truck.
Security footage captured Dayieb entering Fisher's vehicle near a Citgo gas station in Coraopolis on Wednesday morning. Fisher drove, with Elliott positioned in the back seat behind Dayieb. Unbeknownst to Dayieb, Fortuna followed in another truck.
While traveling on Interstate 376, Elliott attempted to shoot Dayieb in the back of the head but misfired. They pulled over at a gas station on Route 422 in Portersville, Butler County, where Fortuna fixed the gun for Elliott. After leaving the gas station, Fisher texted Elliott with the message "now," prompting Elliott to fatally shoot Dayieb once in the head.
The vehicles eventually stopped on Glenwood Way in Butler County, where Fisher instructed Elliott to drive Dayieb's body to a campsite in Licking Township, Clarion County. Fisher, along with Fortuna and the murder weapon, left in the other truck. Elliott was then instructed to hide the body in an abandoned trailer at the campsite, which he allegedly did, covering it with various items.
Following the issuance of a search warrant, state police discovered Dayieb's body with a gunshot wound to the head in the trailer on Friday. Fortuna was apprehended in Conway, Beaver County, with the assistance of Beaver Valley Regional police. Elliott was later arrested in Butler County, and Fisher was apprehended in Midway, Washington County on Sunday morning.
County police Assistant Superintendent Victor Joseph commended the detectives involved in the investigation, acknowledging their relentless efforts in working around the clock. Joseph emphasized that holidays do not deter the pursuit of justice in cases like this.
A preliminary hearing for Elliott is scheduled for January 12, while preliminary hearings for Fisher and Fortuna have yet to be announced. The police have not disclosed the current whereabouts of the three individuals.
