BOSTON - Three individuals have been arrested and are facing charges following an extensive investigation into an overdose death that led to a significant drug bust at a residence on the North Shore of Massachusetts, where multiple children were residing. The arrests were announced by federal investigators and local police during a news conference held in Boston on Monday.
The three suspects, Emilio "6″ Garcia, Sebastien "Bash" Bejin, and Deiby Felix, are reportedly members of a large-scale drug trafficking organization operating in the North Shore region. They were apprehended last week on charges related to the distribution of controlled substances and the manufacturing of over 220 pounds of suspected controlled substances, according to Acting United States Attorney for Massachusetts, Joshua S. Levy.
On Wednesday, November 1st, a group of federal investigators, including members of the North Shore Gang Task Force, executed a raid on a residence located in the Western Avenue area of Lynn. The raid was conducted in connection with an ongoing investigation into an overdose death. During the operation, law enforcement officials seized more than 100 kilograms of controlled substances, half a kilogram of cocaine base, and multiple firearms. Court documents revealed the staggering quantity of controlled substances found in the basement, where Bejin and Garcia were frequently present, leading investigators to believe that the pair conspired to distribute and possess controlled substances with the intent to distribute them.
It is alleged that Garcia played a leading role in the drug trafficking operation, known for distributing fentanyl and methamphetamine in the area, while Bejin is thought to have served as a close associate to Garcia.
Law enforcement officials have referred to this drug bust as one of the largest single-location seizures of controlled substances in the history of New England. The search of the suspects' rented room in Lynn yielded a multitude of counterfeit pills, including those resembling heart-shaped Valentine's Day candies and fake Adderall containing meth and fentanyl. In total, the seized items from the basement of the Broadway residence included 283,600 counterfeit Percocet pills, 1.8 kilograms of brown-like rocks testing positive for cocaine, fentanyl, and methamphetamine, 4.4 kilograms of green pills believed to contain fentanyl, and 9.2 kilograms of pink heart-shaped pills that tested positive for fentanyl and methamphetamine. Additionally, law enforcement discovered 64 grams of pink powder testing positive for MDMA and cocaine HCI, 2.7 kilograms of purple pills, 307 grams of purple powder, and 5,350,000 individual doses of fentanyl. Other items seized included 110 grams of green bars suspected to be counterfeit Xanax, 17.6 kilograms of suspected raw methamphetamine, and various other substances.
Surveillance conducted on the Broadway residence showed Garcia visiting the address nearly every day for 60 days. Bejin was also observed at the residence on multiple occasions between October 11th and October 31st, often seen leaving the premises with brown paper bags or other containers, potentially engaged in transactions or deliveries.
Following the raid on Broadway, the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services and the Hazardous Materials Emergency Response Division were called upon to decontaminate the residence due to the presence of multiple families and small children living on the first and second floors.
The individual linked to the overdose death in Salem on July 5, 2023, identified only as "L.G" in court documents, has been charged in Lynn District Court and indicted in Essex Superior Court.
All three suspects are expected to appear in federal court next week to face the charges against them.
