Thousands of people took to the streets in Brussels, Paris, and Sarajevo over the weekend to show their support for Palestine and call for an end to the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip. In Brussels' European Quarter, around 12,000 demonstrators gathered on Sunday, urging the European Union to advocate for a ceasefire and condemn Israel's closure of Gaza.

Carrying posters with slogans such as "Stop the attacks" and "Free Palestine," the protesters demanded an end to the violence that has escalated in recent weeks. Israel launched a series of attacks on the Gaza Strip in response to a large-scale terror assault by the Islamist Hamas. According to the Hamas-controlled Health Ministry, more than 4,650 Palestinians have been killed.

In Paris, around 15,000 people gathered at the Place de la Republique for the city's first pro-Palestinian demonstration. Unlike other organizers, the Parisian demonstration publicly condemned the Hamas attacks on Israel that took place on October 7, claiming 1,400 lives. The protesters expressed solidarity with Palestinians and called for an immediate ceasefire.

Meanwhile, in Sarajevo, several thousand people gathered in front of the city hall to show their support for Palestine. The mayor, Benjamina Karic, drew parallels between Sarajevo's experience during Bosnia's inter-ethnic war in the 1990s and the current situation in Gaza. Mayor Karic reminded the crowd that Sarajevo endured a 44-month siege by Bosnian Serb forces, resulting in the loss of over 11,500 lives, including several hundred children. He emphasized the city's right to stand in solidarity with Gaza.

The protests in Brussels, Paris, and Sarajevo are just a few examples of the global rallies that have taken place in support of Palestine. People around the world have been voicing their concerns over the escalating violence and demanding an end to the conflict. In Berlin, over 10,000 people also joined a rally, this time in support of Israel.

As the international community continues to grapple with finding a solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, it appears that the voices in support of Palestine are growing louder. The protests serve as a reminder that the situation in Gaza demands immediate attention and action to prevent further loss of life and destruction.
