Seaside, Ore. - Isaiah James Thompson, the 18-year-old man accused of an attempted murder in Seaside, has been taken into custody after spending a weekend evading law enforcement.

Thompson, who was captured in a surveillance photo by Seaside Police, was booked into Clatsop County Jail on multiple charges including attempted murder, robbery, and unlawful use of a weapon. The arrest came following an incident on October 27, where Thompson allegedly assaulted a victim and stole their Ford Mustang, speeding east on Highway 26 towards Washington County.

Soon after, deputies initiated a high-speed chase near the Highway 47 interchange, with the suspect reportedly driving at speeds exceeding 100 mph. However, Thompson ultimately crashed the stolen vehicle and fled the scene on foot. Despite an extensive search operation involving Washington County sheriff's deputies and multiple other police agencies, Thompson managed to evade capture initially.

However, the fugitive's run from the law ended on Tuesday night when he was apprehended. The details surrounding Thompson's arrest were not immediately released.

Booking records also indicate additional charges filed against Thompson in Washington County, including attempting to elude, reckless driving, and criminal trespass. It is expected that he will face these charges alongside the initial accusations from Seaside.

Thompson currently remains in custody at Clatsop County Jail pending further legal proceedings. The nature of the victim's injuries resulting from the assault has not been disclosed at this time.

Authorities have commended the collaborative efforts of the various law enforcement agencies involved in the manhunt, expressing relief that Thompson is now in custody and that public safety has been restored.

As the case continues to unfold, further updates regarding Thompson's charges and potential court dates will be announced as information becomes available.
