In a recent development, Russia's Defense Ministry has confirmed that their air defense systems successfully intercepted and destroyed seven Ukrainian drones in connection with attempted attacks on various regions.

According to the ministry, the incidents occurred overnight on February 3 and involved drone attacks in three different areas. The Russian forces managed to shoot down four drones in the Belgorod region, two in the Volgograd region, and one in the Rostov region.

One notable incident took place in the Volgograd region, where a downed drone resulted in a fire breaking out at the Lukoil Volgograd Oil Refinery located in the Krasnoarmeysky district. However, the fire was promptly extinguished, and the governor of the region, Andrey Bocharov, confirmed that there were no casualties.

Reports from the outlet Ukrainska Pravda, citing a source in Ukrainian intelligence, suggest that the attack on the refinery was carried out by Ukrainian Security Service drones. The source mentioned that two drones specifically targeted the primary oil processing unit, affecting a significant portion of its production capacity.

In the Belgorod region, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported that air defenses were activated overnight. The debris from a downed drone crashed near a farm, causing damage to a private residence and a truck.

On the other hand, no casualties or damage were reported in the Rostov region, where Governor Vasily Golubev confirmed the unsuccessful drone attack.

Meanwhile, Alexander Gusev, the governor of the Voronezh region, stated that a Ukrainian drone was shot down before it could reach the area. Fortunately, no injuries or damages were reported. It is worth noting that Russia's Defense Ministry did not disclose any drone attacks in the Voronezh region.

The series of drone attacks and subsequent interception by Russian air defenses highlights the escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine. It serves as a reminder of the potential ramifications and risks involved in such confrontations.
