In observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the United States Postal Service (USPS) will be closed on Monday, January 15, 2024. The federal holiday honors the renowned civil rights leader and provides an opportunity for individuals to reflect on his legacy.

As a result of the holiday closure, there will be no mail delivery on Monday, with post offices across the nation remaining closed. Regular operations will resume on Tuesday, with mail delivery set to continue as scheduled.

In preparation for the reopening of post offices, it may be wise to stock up on Forever Stamps. Effective from January 21, 2024, the cost for a Forever Stamp will increase by 2 cents from the current rate of 66 cents to 68 cents. These stamps can be used indefinitely, regardless of any future price adjustments.

Interestingly, this is not the first postal holiday of the year, as New Year's Day on January 1, 2024, was also observed. Moving forward, USPS customers can take note of the remaining postal holidays for 2024:

- President's Day - Monday, February 19
- Memorial Day - Monday, May 27
- Juneteenth National Independence Day - Wednesday, June 19
- Independence Day - Thursday, July 4
- Labor Day - Monday, September 2
- Columbus Day - Monday, October 14
- Veterans Day - Monday, November 11
- Thanksgiving Day - Thursday, November 28
- Christmas Day - Wednesday, December 25

The closures on these dates will allow USPS employees to enjoy the holidays and resume operations thereafter.

With the upcoming price increase for Forever Stamps, individuals who rely on frequent mailings are encouraged to take advantage of the current rate before the adjustment takes effect. This increase reflects the rising costs associated with maintaining postal services and ensuring efficient operations.

As Americans mark Martin Luther King Jr. Day and honor his contributions to the civil rights movement, the USPS continues to play a vital role in facilitating communication and connectivity across the nation.
