Police Surround Chippewa Falls Home in Response to Armed Intruder, Situation Resolved Safely

In a tense standoff, the Chippewa Falls Police Department swiftly responded to a distress call from a female resident on Bay Street in Chippewa Falls on October 20th, 2023. The woman reported that an armed intruder was threatening her and himself within her residence.
Upon arrival, officers took immediate action, creating a secure perimeter around the property. Dispatch issued a Public Safety Alert, advising residents in the surrounding area to shelter in place as a precautionary measure. The Chippewa Falls School District also placed several schools on hold while the situation unfolded.
Police learned from the victim that the male suspect was known to her and had made homicidal and suicidal statements. The victim informed officers that he was armed with a firearm and had aimed it at her.

The Chippewa County Coroner arrived to meet with investigators, who confirmed the deceased male as the suspect in the incident. As the investigation into the matter continues, authorities have decided to withhold the identity of the deceased at this time until the family is notified.
