San Diego, CA - The San Diego Police Department (SDPD) is currently investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving a married couple who were reported missing in the days leading up to Christmas. The tragic incident was discovered when U.S. Customs and Border Patrol officers found the couple's vehicle in the parking lot of Campo's Golden Acorn Casino on Tuesday, Dec. 26.

According to a press release from SDPD, the vehicle associated with the missing persons case was found around 12:30 p.m. The authorities found the lifeless bodies of a man and a woman inside the vehicle. While the man appeared to have died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to his head, the cause of the woman's death is yet to be determined.

The SDPD detectives from the southern division and homicide unit immediately responded to the scene at the casino to conduct a thorough investigation. The department had previously been involved in the case after the couple's family reported them missing the week prior.

Preliminary findings during the initial investigation indicate that there may have been a domestic violence incident between the couple before their disappearance. The exact details surrounding their disappearance and the events that transpired still remain under investigation.

Authorities have identified both the suspect and victim in the case but are withholding their names until their respective family members can be notified. The man was 52 years old and of Hispanic descent, while the woman was 45 years old and Filipina.

The SDPD has classified the woman's death as a homicide, with her husband being the lone suspect. The department is treating this as a tragic case of domestic violence.

Further information regarding the woman's cause of death will be released by the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office at a later time.

SDPD is urging anyone with information regarding this case to contact the homicide unit at 619-531-2293 or reach out to Crime Stoppers at 888-580-8477.

As the investigation continues, authorities are working diligently to piece together the timeline of events surrounding this heartbreaking incident.
