A plane collision occurred at Chicago O'Hare International Airport on Sunday evening, prompting the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to launch an investigation, the agency announced on Monday. The incident involved two Boeing aircraft and resulted in no reported injuries.

According to FAA spokesperson Tony Molinaro, the collision took place around 6:30 p.m. Central Time when the left wing tip of All Nippon Airways Flight 11, a Boeing 777, struck the rear of Delta Air Lines Flight 2122, a Boeing 717. Both planes were taxiing for departure.

The FAA's investigation comes at a time when American aircraft manufacturer Boeing is facing increased scrutiny. Recently, Boeing's Boeing 737 Max 9 model faced grounding after a mechanical failure, wherein an emergency exit door malfunctioned, leading to an emergency landing. It remains unclear if the incident at O'Hare on Sunday is related to any manufacturing flaw.

Boeing representatives did not provide a comment regarding the collision, redirecting inquiries to the airlines involved and the FAA. Delta Air Lines spokesperson Emma Johnson confirmed that an All Nippon Airways aircraft clipped their plane while parking at a gate after arriving from Detroit. She reassured that passengers were safely deplaned, and Delta's maintenance technicians are currently evaluating the aircraft.

At present, All Nippon Airways has not released further details regarding the incident, and the airline's flight status search indicates that Flight 11 to Tokyo was canceled due to an "aircraft inspection."

The Chicago Department of Aviation has not yet responded to requests for comment on the collision.
