WEST HAVEN, Conn. - The Connecticut Office of the Inspector General has released a preliminary report and body camera footage of last week's officer-involved shooting in West Haven. The incident occurred early in the morning of Friday, [Date], when police responded to a report of a domestic complaint at an apartment on Terrace Avenue.

According to the report, officers arrived at the scene around 1:55 a.m. where they encountered a woman who alleged that 33-year-old Jovan Washington had attempted to strangle her and had prevented her from leaving the apartment. However, as Washington got out of bed and moved towards a closet, authorities stated that he suddenly turned and reached for a gun that was hidden under the mattress.
