NFL linebacker Von Miller, who currently plays for the Buffalo Bills, is facing a third-degree felony assault charge for allegedly assaulting a pregnant woman in Dallas, according to law enforcement officials. The incident occurred during an argument between Miller and the victim, who have been in a romantic relationship for seven years.

Authorities obtained an arrest warrant this week for Miller, 34, who is accused of assaulting the victim in their apartment during a dispute over upcoming travel plans. The altercation reportedly began in the main bedroom before the woman retreated to their home office and slammed the door, further aggravating Miller.

According to an affidavit filed with the arrest warrant, Miller entered the office and demanded that the woman leave. Despite her compliance, she requested time to gather her personal belongings, including her laptop and phones. It was during this time that Miller allegedly shoved and pushed the woman despite her pleas that she was pregnant.

The situation escalated as Miller stepped on the woman's feet, causing her to fall back into a chair. He then reportedly grabbed her neck for a few seconds, causing pain but not impairing her breathing. The violence continued as Miller threw her laptop on the floor, stomped on it, yanked her hair, and pushed her onto a couch while applying pressure to her neck.

Frightened, the victim informed Miller that she was calling the police, prompting him to leave the apartment. When law enforcement arrived at the scene, they observed minor injuries on the woman's hand, as well as bruising on her abdomen, bicep, and neck consistent with applied pressure.

The woman presented the police with a recording in which Miller could be heard yelling at her to leave, further corroborating her account of the incident. In her 911 call, she identified herself and Miller and provided additional evidence, including a photo of a positive pregnancy test and text messages discussing the baby's due date and an upcoming doctor's appointment.

The Buffalo Bills released a statement acknowledging their awareness of the incident and stated that they are currently gathering information. They withheld further comment at this time.

Von Miller, who was a standout player at DeSoto High School and later at Texas A&M, has enjoyed a successful career in the NFL. He played the majority of his career with the Denver Broncos, winning two Super Bowls in 2016 and 2022, before joining the Los Angeles Rams and eventually landing with the Buffalo Bills.

If convicted, Miller could face serious consequences, including potential jail time and the potential suspension by the NFL under its personal conduct policy. The league has taken a firm stance against domestic violence in recent years and has implemented stricter penalties for players found guilty of such offenses.

As the legal proceedings unfold, the focus will be on ensuring justice for the victim and addressing the serious allegations against Miller, who must now navigate the legal process and potential repercussions for his actions.
