A New Hampshire man, identified as Tyler Anderson, has been arrested on charges of threatening to kill Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy and his supporters during a campaign event in the state, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Anderson, who resides in Dover, allegedly sent threatening messages to Ramaswamy and "multiple other campaigns" after his arrest, as stated in court documents.

The arrest came after Anderson responded to a campaign text message from the Ramaswamy campaign about a meet-and-greet breakfast in Portsmouth on Monday. In response to the message, Anderson allegedly wrote, "Great, another opportunity for me to blow his brains out!" These details were revealed in an affidavit attached to the criminal complaint.

While the charging document filed against Anderson in U.S. District Court in New Hampshire does not explicitly mention Ramaswamy as the target of the threat, the candidate's campaign has confirmed that he was indeed the intended recipient. A spokesperson for Ramaswamy expressed gratitude to law enforcement for their prompt response and professionalism, further stating, "We pray for the safety of all Americans."

Upon his arrest, Anderson admitted to sending threatening messages not only to Ramaswamy but also to "multiple other campaigns," as stated in the affidavit. As a result, federal agents obtained a search warrant for Anderson's residence, authorizing them to seize his Samsung Galaxy smartphone and any firearms located on the premises.

At this time, it remains uncertain what types of firearms were alleged to be present in Anderson's residence, or if they were ultimately seized during the search. Anderson has been charged with transmitting in interstate commerce a threat to injure another person. If convicted, he could face a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a fine up to $250,000.

Anderson is scheduled to appear in Concord federal court later today to face the charge. This is an ongoing investigation, and updates will be provided as new information becomes available.
