After evading authorities for over a month, Joey Travis Fournier, a murder suspect who escaped from the Bibb County Jail in Macon, Georgia, has been apprehended near Stockbridge, according to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office. Fournier, 52, had been held at the Bibb County detention center on a murder charge.

The escape occurred on October 16 when Fournier, along with Marc Kerry Anderson, Johnifer Dernard Barnwell, and Chavis Demaryo Stokes, made their way out of the detention center through a damaged window and a cut fence. Their escape sparked a multiweek manhunt involving law enforcement officers from various agencies.

Stokes was the first to be apprehended on October 26 in Montezuma, followed by the capture of Anderson in Atlanta on November 3. Barnwell was arrested in Augusta on November 12. However, Fournier remained at large until Saturday, when he was finally recaptured by authorities near Stockbridge.

Bibb County Sheriff David Davis expressed his gratitude for the diligent work of the law enforcement officers involved in bringing the fugitives back into custody. He stated, "We are grateful that this last escapee has been captured. My heartfelt appreciation goes out to all of the hardworking law enforcement officers from the Bibb County Sheriff's Office and from all of our partner agencies."

Fournier is expected to be returned to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center later today. His recapture marks the successful conclusion of a month-long manhunt that kept the community on high alert.
