A destructive fire engulfed several businesses in the Bronx, causing extensive damage and injuring one individual. Firefighters worked tirelessly to battle the flames that spread through a commercial building in the Kingsbridge area.

The fire, which broke out around 3:30 am, tore through a local barber shop, seafood market, meat market, florist, cleaning business, and other establishments, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Disturbing videos shared on social media captured the massive flames engulfing the building, while eyewitnesses recounted being woken up by a strong smell of smoke.

One witness, named Miguel, expressed his shock over the incident, stating, "I saw a lot of firefighters and I woke up to the smoke. I got surprised because things like this don't happen in the neighborhood. These businesses have been around for over 30 years. These people are nice people."

Authorities reported that the fire originated in the Cold Cut City Bunny Deli during the early hours of the morning. Witnesses claimed that the blaze began in the kitchen located at the back of the business. The flames then spread to neighboring stores, causing significant fire and water damage to a total of seven businesses.

Unfortunately, this devastating incident comes just days after another catastrophic event occurred in the Bronx. A six-story building suddenly collapsed, displacing several families and causing widespread destruction. Surveillance footage captured the horrifying moment when the building crumbled, sending debris crashing onto the street below.

Although no victims were found amidst the rubble, two individuals sustained minor injuries while evacuating the damaged building. Firefighters conducted an exhaustive search of the 12-foot high debris pile, utilizing buckets, power tools, heavy equipment, and even search dogs. Thankfully, all occupants of the ground floor shop managed to escape unharmed.

Authorities are currently investigating the cause of the collapse, as the building had been undergoing facade repairs. A 2020 inspection had raised concerns about cracked brick and damaged mortar on the building's facade. Commissioner Jimmy Oddo clarified that while the property had unresolved violations, they were not structural in nature.

The impacted residents have been directed to a nearby school for assistance, and the city has arranged buses for them to have a place to stay temporarily. The prolonged efforts of firefighters to extinguish the blaze and search for survivors in both incidents exemplify their dedication and commitment to public safety.
