Man Fatally Shot in North Minneapolis; Investigation Underway

Minneapolis, MN - A man in his 50s died early Saturday morning after sustaining a gunshot wound in a shooting incident that occurred in North Minneapolis. The Minneapolis Police Department has launched an investigation into the matter.
Authorities received a ShotSpotter notification at approximately 5:30 a.m., prompting officers to respond to the 3500 block of Penn Avenue North. Upon arrival, they discovered an unresponsive man in his 50s lying in a nearby alley, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Efforts by the responding officers to administer life-saving measures proved unsuccessful, and the victim was subsequently transported to North Memorial Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office is set to conduct an autopsy and release the victim's name and the cause of death. As such, additional details surrounding the circumstances of the shooting remain pending.
